This is a page for my Flexibility for Fitness class. Below you will find a general overview of my perspective of the course.
The document below is the outline for an in-class presentation. We were to instruct the class for that day on stretches, and core strengthening. My group had a total of four members. I really enjoyed instructing a large group on a few of my favorite stretches. By doing this, I've actually been asked to lead stretches for dancer workshops for pay. I never expected to be stretching a bumch of dancers! I just wanted an A!

1. What did you learn about "lifelong wellness" form taking this class?
I learned the importance that stretching your muscles has on your body and athleticism as a whole. Before I started this class, I thought stretching was pointless and dumb, maybe it help with preventing injury, but it's so much more than that. You feel lighter, open, more alive after a good stretch. Things become easier, it's hard to explain. I believe that if you stretch whenever you feel tight your entire life, it will only help your "lifelong wellness".
2. How would you apply this information to your life?
After taking this class I learned what my muscles felt like when they were tight and lose, when to stretch them, when not to. Whenever I feel them tight, I stretch them and make them feel a lot better. I also apply the information I learned to my cheering group. I lead the stretches now and help them partner stretch to gain flexibility.
3. What is your intention to continue to exercise during your life and why?
It's always been my intention to exercise my entire life. I find too much joy in exercising to stop. It makes me feel good and healthy as a bonus. If anything, taking this class reinforced my desire to exercise my entire life. Along with exercising, I like to eat well. I think eating well and drinking lots of fluids plays a great role in overall flexibility.
4. General ideas for improving this course?
When I first started this class, it was primarily to obtain my center splits for cheer. But, It's so much more than that! First off, the instructor is very friendly and cares about every individual and their ability to stretch. She works individually with each one of us while instructing the whole group at once, so I was very impressed. We set our own goals in this class, which I always appreciate. I have learned so many new stretches that it blows my mind! I can stretch on the floor, on balls, against walls, doing yoga, and even while I'm relaxing! I never stretched before I took this class and honestly thought stretching was a joke, but everyday after class I feel SO GOOD! Now, I stretch almost daily because I hate how tight my body can feel sometimes. I used to have pain in my calf, but it's gone now too! I highly recommend this class. It's definitely one of my top favorites. I have no ideas to improve this course. It was great!
